Curtwood is an Architectural Joinery Company, specialising in Bespoke Residential Interiors where exceptional craftmanship and design matter.
With a skilled team of passionate makers and a dedicated workshop, Curtwood has the experience and capability to take on projects of any scale and complexity from quietly refined interiors to highly complex and technically demanding joinery.
We collaborate with builders, architects, interior designers & discerning homeowners across Sydney, Central Coast & Newcastle to deliver custom joinery that is thoughtfully detailed, meticulously built and seamlessly integrated into the architecture of each space.
Founded by Leon and Laura Curtis, Curtwood is an owner-led furniture and joinery studio, supported by a skilled team and dedicated workshop. Built on a shared commitment to quality, craftsmanship and lasting design, Curtwood brings together thoughtful design, skilled making and a considered approach to every project.
Leon brings more than a decade of experience across industrial design, fine furniture and high-end residential cabinet making. He leads the design and fabrication of each project, combining a strong understanding of design with a hands-on approach to making. His training includes an Advanced Diploma in Industrial Design, Fine Furniture at the renowned Sturt School for Wood, and cabinet making. This background has shaped a way of working that is precise, practical and detail-focused, with an emphasis on well-resolved design, honest materials and quality that stands the test of time.
Laura brings a considered and commercially minded approach to the business, with responsibility across Curtwood’s operations, finance and administration. She oversees the systems and processes that support the studio and its projects, from planning and scheduling through to financial management and day-to-day coordination. Her focus on organisation, clarity and long-term sustainability provides the structure behind the work, allowing the team to operate efficiently while maintaining the level of care Curtwood is known for.
Together with their team, Leon and Laura remain closely involved throughout every project, from initial enquiry and design through to fabrication and installation. Working from their dedicated workshop, Curtwood combines the personal involvement of an owner-led studio with the capability of an experienced team, delivering furniture and joinery that is carefully considered, expertly made and built to last.
